Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Medium-Sized Mixing Bowl
  • A Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Pork Beef - Optional
  • 1 Cup Finely Chopped Cabbage Parboiled
  • 1 Medium Size Onion Finely Chopped
  • ½ Cup Tofu Finely Chopped
  • 4 Ounces Mung Bean Noodles Soaked In Hot Water For 10-15 Minutes
  • 3 - 4 Cloves Garlic Finely Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Crushed
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 Packet Of Circular Mandu Wrappers
  • Dipping Sauce For Serving

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients in one place.
  • Now, take a large mixing bowl, and add the ground pork, cabbage, onion, tofu, and noodles to it.
  • To prepare a seasoning mixture, take another medium size mixing bowl and add other ingredients like garlic, soy sauce, kosher salt, sesame oil, and crushed black pepper. Mix well.
  • Pour the seasoning mix over the mixture of meat and vegetables. Now, mix it gently and make sure that everything is combined well.
  • Open the packet of dumpling wrappers to take them out. Place about 1 tablespoon of the prepared filling in the center of the mandu wrapper.
  • Keep a bowl of water in front of you and dip your finger into that to wet the sides of the wrapper.
  • Next step is to fold the dumpling wrapper in half and press to seal properly. Also, crimp the edges to give it a good shape. Repeat this step until all the fillings are used.
  • Now, you can steam, sauté, or fry the dumplings. It's completely your choice how you want it to be.
  • Lastly, serve these yummy dumplings with a basic dipping sauce.

Notes

  • It's not necessary to use pork; you can replace it with beef as well. Plus, you can add veggies of your choice to give it a more personalized twist.
  • You can replace mung bean noodles with sweet potato noodles, if you wish.
  • If you are left with extra dumpling wrappers, then you can cut them into thin slices and utilize them to make noodle soup.
  • You can freeze these dumplings and use frozen dumplings straight from the freezer without even defrosting them, whether you like to steam, fry, sauté, or utilize them in a soup. It's just that they will need to cook for a longer time.
  • Also, you have to remember one thing that the cooking time can be adjusted based on your preferred method of cooking i.e., steaming, frying or sautéing. This is to ensure that the dumplings are cooked properly. And you can enjoy your delicious homemade Mandu!
