Equipment

  • Three-Piece Cobbler Shaker with Built-In Strainer ( You can have your Shaker and Strainer Separately too.)
  • Twisted Bar Spoon with Disk Muddler
  • Straws
  • 25ml/50ml Measure

Ingredients

  • ½-1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 8-10 Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp White sugar
  • 1 cup Ice cubes
  • ½ cup Club soda

Instructions

  • First, use a mortar and pestle to crush the ingredients together, releasing the lime juice and mint oils.
  • Place the lime wedges, mint leaves, and sugar in a glass.
  • To the glass, add the ice chunks.
  • Pour in the club soda, and stir gently to combine.
  • Add more mint leaves and a lime wedge as a topping.

Notes

  • Club soda can be substituted with tonic water, but the flavor will be different and somewhat bitter.
  • Use good quality rum for your mojito, but avoid using bottom-shelf rum that may have a harsh flavor.
Don't overdo the ice, too much ice can water down the drink and dilute the flavors.
Try experimenting with different variations, you can add fresh fruit like strawberries or mango, or swap out the white rum for a dark or flavored rum.
  • However, using a mortar and pestle to crush the ingredients is an optional step, as a muddler or the back of a spoon can also be used to release the lime juice and mint oils. Additionally, the recipe could be improved by specifying the amount of lime juice to be used, as the lime wedges' size can vary, leading to inconsistent results.
