- 5 tbsp Black Tea Leaves
- 4 Star Anise Whole
- 4 Pods Green Cardamom Crushed
- 2 Piece Cinnamon Stick
- 4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 0.5 Cups Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 4 tbsp Evaporated Milk
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 8 Cups Of Water
- 2 Vanilla Beans Optional
- 2 tsp Almond Extract Optional
First, assemble all the ingredients to make the tea.
Next, in a medium-sized pot, add water and bring it to a boil. Now, add the black tea leaves and all the other spices in the boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and strain the tea using a fine mesh sieve. Discard the spices and the tea leaves.
Take a separate bowl and add the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk & sugar. Give it a stir to mix all the ingredients properly.
Next, take the serving glasses and fill them with ice. Now, pour the tea over the ice leaving half the glasses empty for adding the milk mixture.
Pour the milk mixture into the glasses and your Thai iced milk tea is ready to enjoy!
- We would recommend you utilize strong tea such as Ceylon, Keemun, or Assam. Alternatively, you can also utilize tea bags of black tea if black tea leaves are not available.
- To make this tea caffeine free, you can use rooibos tea.
- To give this recipe a vegan twist, just replace evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk with coconut milk and coconut cream.
- You can totally adjust the sweetness of your Thai milk tea according to your preference. Plus, instead of using white sugar, you can use brown sugar, palm sugar, honey, or even stevia.
- You can add nutmeg or cloves as spices in the tea too.
